Grid couplings or Biddy Couplings are flexible couplings used in high torque, low misalignment applications. Biddy couplings were originally invented by Dr James Biddy in 1917, by mating two shafts together with hubs and a specially wound and tempered spring to allow the two shafts to become angularly misaligned. Grid couplings small amount of angular […]

Mechanical power transmission couplings are broken down into 3 sections, Uni joints, Elastomeric and Beam type couplings. Uni joints are the most flexible and offer high torque but low speed, Elastomeric couplings can do high speed and high torque but low angle of misalignment. Beam and bellows coupling at high speed high torque but low angle of misalignment.
Twin Spring Coupling offers the best of everything, flexible to 45°, high torque (6000 in lbs.) and capable of 7000 RPM.
A one piece design replaces these other couplings with all their different components.

Twin Spring Couplings now offering a T6061 Aluminum constructed version of their spring couplings
We are proud to announce that our 3 Twin Spring Coupling ranges are now also available in T6061 High strength T6 aluminum. We have looked like any good mechanical engineer for ways to save weight but without losing strength or longevity. The artificially aged and precipitation hardening makes this tempered aluminum stronger that 304 Stainless […]
Mechanical power transmission couplings by Twin Spring coupling is stronger, runs faster and is more flexible than all other spring couplings. Spring Couplings are another form of flexible shaft coupling but usually down at the lower end of the market, as they usually have a low ability to transfer torque and to run at high […]
Elastomeric couplings, Couplings long used in different industries like food, beverage, mining, industrial. The common contaminants factor in their usage such as water, dust makes them the better choice over uni joints. A coupling to avoid breakdown due to contaminants like moisture. These kind of contaminants are problematic with other couplings such as universal joints […]
Best Industrial power transmission couplings for 2021 The best industrial power transmission couplings for the mass industrial market are broken roughly into these 5 types of couplings, some have subsets as well, the elastomeric couplings have jaw couplings as segment where some people treat them as a category by themselves. These couplings are also constructed […]
Jaw Couplings vs Twin Spring Coupling Jaw coupling is an elastomeric coupling used in a number of different industries, Industrial, distribution, agriculture to power servo motors, pumps or other motors. Jaw couplings 3 piece vs Twin Spring Coupling 1 piece design The Jaw coupling is made up of 3 pieces, a input hub, a insert […]
Coupling bearing contaminants – Water, mud, dirt and dust contaminants are one of the many ways that bring uni joints to a halt. Rubber boots, constant greasing and inspections are the usual way used to keep the coupling bearing inside couplings working. That’s part of the ROI but what about the annual cost that adds […]
Bearing Failure in Uni joints, there are only a few option available. The universal joint is one of these fundamental shaft coupling solutions, it’s been used for the past 115 years in the automotive industry and longer in other areas like Industrial and farming. The three-piece design while simple, has always had to been maintained […]
The true cost of universal joints are not so simple, a low initial price but with ongoing maintenance means it becomes a lot more expensive Lets face it, its an old technology, 115 years old to be exact, the first use of the word by inventor Robert Hooke in 1676 shows the coupling is far […]
Universal Joint and power transmission couplings So the weather is changing, the short cold days of winter are starting to recede. Now is the time of the service manager starting to his maintenance schedule for plant and equipment. Couplings come into play here as the constant greasing of universal joints and replacement of worn bearings/yokes […]
