Flexible Spring Type Coupling with Exclusive Triple Wound Spring Design The Uniflex Coupling is an all steel, single piece coupling that solves a variety of application concerns including: high misalignment, space limitations, high temperature, and exceptionally low backlash/windup. The unique flexing center of the Uniflex consists of three opposingly wound square wire springs for forward or reverse operation. Two steel hubs are then brazed to the steel spring pack to create a durable one-piece flexible coupling.

This Lovejoy U Type Uniflex coupling is an all-steel, single-piece coupling that connects two rotating shafts, providing low backlash/windup.

The flexing center of the coupling consists of three opposingly wound square wire springs for forward or reverse operation, providing low backlash/windup.

Two steel hubs are then brazed to the steel spring pack to create a durable one-piece flexible coupling that compensates for high degrees of misalignment (up to 4.5° angular, up to .045 inches parallel).

Its compact, single-piece design allows for placement in tight places, and its all-metal design is durable and requires no lubrication. This coupling is resistant to oil, grease, dirt, and most industrial chemicals and can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to 450 degrees F.

A keyway in each hub prevents the shaft from rotating in the coupling hub. This coupling is suitable for applications such as printing and binding registration, robotics/positioning, conveyors, machine tools, centrifugal pumps, agricultural machinery, blowers, winding machines, and steering mechanisms.

Flexible couplings are used to link two rotating shafts that are not aligned in order to transmit the rotational power, known as torque, from one shaft to the other.

Most flexible couplings consist of two hubs and a middle assembly; each hub attaches to a shaft while the middle assembly flexes between the hubs to accommodate the misalignment of the two shafts.

Shaft misalignments are generally either parallel or angular and cause complications to transmitting rotational power from one shaft to another in the form of stresses, loads, vibrations, and other forces, which vary from one type of misalignment to another.

Flexible couplings are used in a broad range of applications, such as in motor vehicles, conveyors, escalators, agricultural, forestry and mining equipment, aeronautics, robotics and space exploration, among others.
