Designed with no internal components like bearings, means our coupling is truly maintenance free, making it impervious to water, mud, dust, dirt and other contaminants. This saves time and on annual maintenance bills.
One of the major failure points in universal joints, whether farm couplers or others is the bearing cross, the bearings themselves whether needle or block and pin fail quickly when exposed to moisture, this is why universal joint crosses need to be constantly greased not only to keep the components lubricated but o also keep water out.
As the grease that get used to lubricate gets used up this allows moisture to enter and allows the needles and pins to seize, this means the bearing cross is unusable and will need to be replaced.
The same can also be said for dust, it can enter through the bearing seals also fouling up the needles and pins within the bearing cross. This also means the bearings will fail and will need to be replaced.
Regardless of how much a bearing gets greased it cannot keep dust or water out, which is why Twin Spring Couplings don’t have bearings, so no worries about moisture or dust or constant greasing.
The universal joint bearings wear in two ways, first the daily use of the product and secondly and more critically the angle at what the coupling joint is being used at, as the higher the angle of misalignment during use the more the bearings will wear against the inside edge of the race.
This means increased vibration which can result in equipment damage and/or bearing failure.
This makes it a weak point and with the tough work they experience farming are prone to cracking which means the yoke will have to be replaced meaning it has to be removed and wait for the new yoke to arrive and then reinstallation, which is both time and money.
TSC500 Agriculture 20T How is it different from Universal joints.
By being a one piece design also means Twin Spring Coupling wont break like the yokes do in traditional uni joints. The yokes while substantial where they connect to the input/output shafts are a lot smaller where they connect to the bearing cross joint.
