TSC300 Mining couplings – An alternative for universal joint and elastomeric couplings in drivelines, pumps, conveyors.
Couplings in the mining industry have a number of issues to contend with, annual maintenance, fundamental design flaws coming from a century old technology, the automobile has evolved but the technology that makes up the universal joint has not.
Twin Spring Coupling TSC300 Mining offers something different.
It replaces the entire coupling whether U joint with its bearings everything, with a simple one piece design.
- Conveyor belts
- Mining vehicles
Designed with no internal components like bearings, means our spring coupling is truly maintenance free, making it impervious to water, mud, dust, dirt and other contaminants. This saves time and on annual maintenance bills.
Time means money and downtime especially unscheduled downtime can be very costly, do we have the people and parts to fix the problem? If not how long will it take, and in some instances losing $1,000 to $10,000’s per hour makes cheap couplings not that cheap.
Add to that the annual maintenance bill for greasing and replacing worn universal joints to keep them from breaking down is another cost both in component costs but again lost productivity.
Worn bearings are the main factor in universal joint replacement either the pre lubricated or the greased version. The cheap cost of the bearing cross for most people think its a worthwhile coupling but the amount of labor involved in regards to monthly maintenance, greasing and eventual replacement means it makes it not as cheap as initially thought.
Elastomeric couplings like jaw couplings are an alternative due to their elastomeric membrane which is impervious to moisture, the only issue is the coupling itself can usually be used at only 1/2° to 1° which makes it a source of maintenance as anything over that means the membrane wears at the edges and the compression of the membrane from use means it also needs to be replaced. The inserts are cheap but the time, labor and lost production means cheap turns into expensive.
The other aspect of the bearings or spider inserts or hubs is the availability of them as well, if they arent in the supply store etc then the machinery cannot be used until they are replaced.
TSC300 Mining couplings – How are they different?
By being a one piece design also means Twin Spring Coupling TSC300 Mining wont break like the yokes/hubs do in traditional uni joints or elastomeric couplings.
Our TSC300 coupling is available in all the standard industry splines for easy replacement or retrofit for OEM. In both imperial and Metric
Flexible up to 45 degrees so more than elastomeric couplings and u-joints.
Lower maintenance cost, improves flexibility, 1 piece design makes Twin Spring coupling the right choice to replace your old universal joints and jaw couplings.
