TSC300 Industrial – universal joints, jaw couplings and elastomeric couplings alternative.
TSC300 Industrial couplings replace elastomeric coupling and universal joints in any industrial power transmission application.
Couplings in an flexible shaft coupling setup have a number of issues to contend with, annual maintenance, fundamental design flaws coming from a century old technology, industry has evolved but the technology that makes up the standard coupling and universal joint has not.
Twin Spring Coupling offers something different.
Industrial power transmission couplings are broken into two main areas, high speed low angle of misalignment and lower speed higher angle of misalignment. Traditionally these two needs have been serviced by two different couplings.
Motion control couplings like elastomeric couplings (including jaw coupling) and the universal joint.
The problem with both couplings are their fundamental design weaknesses, for motion control coupling they can run fast but cannot work at over 1 degrees of misalignment before they start to wear out. Hytrel and Bronze spider insert that number is half.
The universal joint is broken into two types.
- Block and Pin (or Friction bearing) is a slow (1700 rpm) and can only flex to 25 degrees and need constant greasing.
- Needle bearing universal joints can run at 6000 rpm and is flexible to 35 degrees. The needle bearing universal joints are more expensive initially and maintenance wise also.
On top of that they traditionally cannot run over 8 degrees before technical issues like balancing and bearing wear become issues. In a 24/7/365 situation like industrial power transmission that’s going to create interruption and a increased annual maintenance bill.
Jaw couplings are a high speed low misalignment coupling, any angle past a few degrees will mean the spider insert will start to wear, and the compression of the two hubs pressing against the insert compresses it which also shortens its lifespan.
Elastomeric coupling (which includes jaw couplings) have a lot of the similar characteristics they can run at high speed but can only run at low angle of misalignment before they start to wear out as well.
TSC300 Industrial – How its better than a universal joint and jaw coupling.
Twin Spring Coupling TSC300 Industrial has no internal components so no annual maintenance and can run at high and low speed as needed. Nothing that needs to be maintained or replaced, a one piece design made to last longer.
Our coupling is available in all the standard industry splines for easy replacement or retrofit for OEM, metric and imperial.
Flexible up to 45 degrees.
Speeds of up to 7000 rpm.
Either 4140 Alloy or T6061 T6 construction.
