Lovejoy L-099 1/2″ Hytrel/Bronze jaw coupling replacement, the TSC150 alternative.
TSC150 1/2″ jaw coupling alternative for industrial coupling users. Replace your Lovejoy with a maintenance free, flexible shaft coupling alternative.
Power transmission couplings in the industrial sector traditionally are broken into two sectors, the elastomeric couplings that can only run at angles of 1° or less otherwise they wear out, as they cannot physically flex beyond that, Hytrel and Bronze spider inserts can only run at 1/2°.
Lovejoy L-099 Jaw couplings are a 3 piece elastomeric coupling, an input and output hub and a spider insert, the insert can be made up of 3 different materials SOX – (NBR, Buna-N), Urethane, Hytrel and Bronze.
Each insert gets progressively stiffer and less able to absorb vibration so the angular misalignment becomes smaller with each insert.
The elastomeric insert or spider insert is used to absorb vibration and allow a small amount of angular misalignment.
The misalignment means wear at the edges or legs of the insert and general compression means as the insert ages it compresses, leading to increased vibration and that can lead to equipment damage.
The other are universal joints which can normally only run at 8° otherwise prematurely wearing the bearings within the propeller shaft of the universal joint, the bearing creates vibration and with continual wear the bearings will fail.
The bearings need also to be constantly greased otherwise the ball bearings will not have any lubrication, and with them running at high speed the balls will seize in their tracks again leading to bearing failure.
Lovejoy L-099 Jaw couplings the spiders wear after use of 1/2° to 1°, as well as general use and yokes can crack, these are the main issues when it comes to using jaw couplings.
Twin Spring Coupling can run up to 25° without needing to be lubrication, and at low angles of misalignment and comparable high speeds to traditional industrial couplings.
Cracking leads to catastrophic failure and replacement of the hub. This makes it an expensive repair as with the price of the hub is cheap but labor cost ad equipment downtime add up.
Lovejoy L-099 TSC150 a better option.
Twin Spring Coupling is different it replaces the entire jaw coupling, hubs, spider insert, everything, with a simple one piece design.
By being a one piece design also means Twin Spring Coupling wont break like the hubs do in traditional Lovejoy L-099 joints.
Our coupling is available in all the standard industry splines for easy replacement or retrofit for OEM. Now in Metric sizes.
